All models of knifes are manufactured with adherence to centuries-old traditions of local craftsmen. Artistic design combined with a high working qualities of the knife and under conditions of proper use they will be reliable, long-term assistants on hunting and fishing.

Besides knives, the production of gift and travel sets as diplomats, bags, Butikov the very different configuration. They are indispensable if you are going to relax in nature with family or friends.

The History Of Vorsma

In the beautiful village of Nizhny Novgorod region and the scenic lake stretches a small town called Vorsma - one center of knife production.

Vorsma was first mentioned in "the Case of the watch of the estate of Prince Cherkassky" in 1588. Although some historians argue that the Vorsma existed before, after the unification of the villages of the Reaping the churchyard.

Many in the history of each locality, each city shared, linked together with the history of Russia, but at the same time, most cities have their own characteristics. It happened with the Vorsma. Artisanal has long been the cradle of the steel-plumbing....

Damascus steel

The glorious and ancient city of Damascus has to the production of the same name became irrelevant, and the sonorous name comes from the fact that there have long learned to fabricate from Indian superior metal blades. Crusaders with these blades "met" and this exotic material was called "Damascus steel".

Damascus steel is layered forged steel, with surface pattern as a result of the particular (or laminated fibrous) internal structure.

Forge welding is a key operation in the creation of Damascus steel. This process requires temperature and pressure to create a solid weld joint.

The ready method of Damascus steel is in the layout of several layers of steel (package), heating and direct welding of the components at a certain temperature. Thus the mating surfaces of the components of the package are cleaned from oxide films, perfectly polished and tightly fitted.

When heating the metal, the electrons of the outer atomic layers of the surface pass into a state of arousal, gain mobility, and when properly selected temperature and pressure to migrate to the adjacent surface of the adjacent mated metal forming a solid weld.

So a set of multiple steels with different carbon content (package) welded together. If one end of such a workpiece to be polished and etched in acid, you can see a pattern of parallel strips. The billet bend in half, the layers should not crack or peel. The heated billet is unfettered and bend dozens of times, either cut and welded again. All this happens at a certain temperature and pressure. Instrument for pressure is the forging hammer.

The existing pattern on the blade made of Damascus steel is the result of multiple re-forging ( 400-500 layers) of several steels to a visible picture of you. The beauty of Damascus steel has its basis in a difference of colors, layers of steels with different chemical composition. Bright lines is a high level of chromium or Nickel. Dark lines - just carbon steel or low carbon.

We use several types of steels . For example , SHKH15, U8.

SHKH15 – this brand often has excessive chromium content of more than 1.5 % that seriously impairs weldability. It is alloy steel. It is not for beginners, requires precise control of process of heat treatment, but ultimately these difficulties are justified by the quality of the blade,

U8 – favorite Smiths steel: well forged and quenched. Has good grain structure.

The hardness of our knives corresponds to 60-63 HRC.

What's good about these knives? And what are the disadvantages?

Every good thing must have three essential properties, namely, strength, usefulness, beauty.

The beauty of these knives in our view undoubted, although it is of course a matter of taste.

In accordance with its main purpose, the knife should be cut well, E. to be sharp, and it depends on the material of the blade. The concept of sharpness is twofold. Under one understand that the knife can be sharpened to a razor sharpness, and under different mean ability of the blade to keep the initial sharpening. The blade can be sharpened very sharp, but if the metal is soft, when cutting this edge will crumple, but if hard, but brittle, breaking off and will microside. Damascus blades are sharp in every sense of the word, and they are solid and resilient at the same time.

The only drawback of these knives is that they corrode.

But the opinion that Damascus knife lot, collectors, and place him on the shelf behind glass and not in the field because of its low corrosion resistance, we believe that it is unfair. For standard functions performed by a hunting knife ( skinning, butchering, bread cut into) Damascus blade is preferred than stainless steel (65H13, 95X18). As for fishing, here in the case of Damasco a little worse, but to bring the knife to deep corrosion, it is necessary very much to dislike him. In our opinion a better knife 2 times to wipe more than 3 times more frequent sharpening.

Composite material

Stainless composite material on the basis of ledeburite steel (chromium content of not less than 12%, a carbon content of not less than 1.5%) with severe heterogeneous (heterogeneous) structure, implemented in the material through high temperature (750-1050ºС) multiple of Cycling followed by slow cooling at a rate of 0.3-0.5 ºC/min.
The macrostructure of the composite material in the cross section shown in the figure. The volume content of carbide component is at least 25%. After a forging operation of carbide plates are aligned along the lines of forging, providing volumetric reinforcement products extra-hard component of the material allows to realize at the cutting edge of product "seem to rip up" effect and mechanism of self-sharpening characteristic of articles made of damask steel.
The alternation of carbide segregations with zones depleted in carbon, provides greater stability of the cutting edge to the punch. Products of this composite material are characterized by long working resource of cutting edge and easy recoverability cutting properties when using mussat ruling and other abrasive tools.
