ArcTeryx company was founded in 1989 in Vancouver, Canada, David lane. Initially it was located in the basement of one of the Vancouver houses and was called "Rock Solid". The first product manufactured by the lane, were climbing arbors, immediately caused an extreme interest among fans of climbing and then popularity.

By 1990, David lane felt the need for more production and - more importantly - in a new partner who was well versed in the market of climbing gear. Lane needed new ideas that would allow us to go beyond the standard equipment for mountain sports. Such a partner was found - it was Jeremy Gard, in the past a great skier and climber. With him lane and created in 1990 a new company called "ArcTeryx", which started its activity on the basis of "Rock Solid".

The company name comes from the word "Archaeopteryx" - a highland bird that lived in Canada in Jurassic period. The imprint of the animal on the stone is so like the lane that he decided on the basis of this fingerprint to create a company logo, and the name of the fossil animal used to the name of his company.

In 1991, the firm has developed a new, revolutionary type of fasteners for gazebos “SKAHA" that allows you to free climbers from several uncomfortable conditions, as for example, constant monitoring of the weakening of the insurance and gazebos. Due to this, in late 1991 the company "ArcTeryx" appeared on the pages of the popular sports publication "Climbing Magazine" in which it is particularly highly noted gazebos such as Black Ice, Skaha, Neutrino.

In 1992 the company moved to new premises, thus going on a new production level. At the same time, lane and Gard meet his future third partner - Jim Purdy, who is hired by the company worker "ArcTeryx". It was he who organized the production of new climbing backpacks, more adapted to climbing. These include models such as the Khamsin, Sebring and Miura.

Another revolutionary development of the company's steel shoulder straps for mountain Biking and integration in climbing gazebos material from thermoformed foam. Moreover, the new design of the pavilions had a three-dimensional shape, which gave more guarantees of safety and comfort for athletes. A new technology called Vapor Technology. It was officially introduced in 1994.

Case "ArcTeryx" so quickly went to the mountain in 1996 by the partner company W. L. Gore & Associates decided to start manufacturing outerwear for climbing and mountain sports. New jackets were the first of their kind because they were created from a breathable, lightweight, but insulated fabric.

In 1999, just a couple of hours of sales a new batch of jackets were sold 2500 models. In the same year the company decides to expand its production by mass recruitment of new staff and moving to a new area, in Burnaby.

In 2001 the company "ArcTeryx" noted a five-fold increased level of sales. The company obviously has taken a strong niche in the production of clothing and equipment for mountain sports. It is not surprising that the company began to attract the attention of larger investors. Thus, soon a contract was signed, under which the company acquired Adidas Solomon "ArcTeryx" and included him in the ranks of their brands. In may 2005 the group of companies, Solomon went to another large Corporation Amer Sports.

"ArcTeryx" continues to this day to rapidly gain market sports apparel and gear for mountain sports, being the number one brand in the world. At the moment, Arc Teryx has a number of branches in New Zealand, Australia, Vietnam and China.
